Part shellfish kitchen, part craft beer brewery, The Urchin is one of the best pubs in Brighton & Hove to eat or drink in. With an Australian head chef, there are well executed influences from Southeast Asia, and South America in some of the cooking, as well as more classic dishes like whole lobster with garlic butter.
They serve some of the cleanest, smoothest oysters I’ve ever had and their on-site Larrikin brewery is producing some exceptional craft beer including the Isolation Hazy Pale, which really did help me through lockdown 2.0 – a juicy hazy hop-bomb with a pleasant bitterness and tropical fruit aromas. It’s a banger.
