Wood x Coal from Humble Plates, launched in the Summer of 2020 down at the awesome Bison Beach Bar as a barbecue concept, cooking over open fire, using a specially designed oven, burning a mixture of wood and coal to create a distinctive flavour.
I spent many an afternoon and evening down there but usually ordered the same thing, and you will too once you try it – Dry-aged Flank Steak, Skin on Fries, and all the sauces – Romesco, Chimichurri, Garlic Butter, Hot Sauce.
During the winter, the menu been updated to include breakfast dishes like the Double Sausage & Egg Muffin available from 8am, and lunch dishes from 12-5pm including that Flank Steak and a Pork Belly Doughnut with barbecue pork belly, grilled onion, pork scratchings, do-ya jam, and hot sauce.
If and when Sea Lanes is completed, this will be an incredible destination.
The summer menu included Chermoula Cauliflower, and Teriyaki Mushrooms from the grill. The winter menu is more limited but does still include the superb Humble Herbivore burger – B12 Patty, truffle mayo, lettuce, pickled onions, ketchup, mustard.
